
Sara Knapik-Szweda

PhD in social sciences, certified music therapist MT-C, certified supervisor, assistant professor at the University of Silesia and tutor
Sara Knapik-Szweda has been a certified music therapist since 2013. She is an educator and assistant professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice. She is Vice-President of the Polish Association of Music Therapists and a member of the international Music Therapy with Families Hub.
She works with premature babies and newborns in two Polish hospitals, autistic children and their families, and adults experiencing mental health crises. She is currently completing an accredited psychotherapy programme in Katowice.
She wrote the first Polish book on the role of music therapy techniques in supporting the development of autistic children. Together with Dr Alexandra Ullsten of Örebro University, she conducts research into pain relief for newborns during painful medical procedures. Since 2026 she has been a member of PEARL, the international Pain in Early Life research group.
